Inspiring all children to create & achieve

Attendance

At Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery we want every child to achieve the very best that they can.

If children are to reach their potential, they need to attend school regularly and arrive punctually.

Illness

Parents are asked to contact the school by telephone as soon as possible if their child is to be absent.

If the school has not been contacted by 9.30am, we will call the parent/carer to find out the reason for absence. Parents must contact the school on every further day of absence. Any unexplained absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

If a child becomes ill at school, the parent or carer will be asked to collect them as soon as possible.

Medicines

The school cannot administer medicines unless a signed and completed consent form (obtained from the school office) is received from the parents along with the medication.

We are only able to dispense prescribed medication.

Leave of Absence

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 were amended in September 2013.

The amendments specify that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are "exceptional circumstances"

Only the Headteacher may authorise such a request and all applications for a leave of absence must be made in writing on the prescribed form provided by the school. Where a parent removes a child when the application for leave was refused or where no application was made to the school, the issue of a penalty notice will be requested by this school.

Lateness

It is vital that children arrive at school on time so that they have a calm and positive start to their day.

Good time keeping is a vital life skill, which will help our children as they progress through their school life and out into the wider world. Children must be in class by 9:00am.
