Computing
At Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery, we feel that our children need to be prepared for a future in which they will be using computers every day of their working life.
It is essential that all children have the capacity to create, store and retrieve projects that they are working on and organise their files in a logical and systematic way.
As a result, in our Computing lessons, children learn: how to use a range of common programmes effectively; how to create code both on-line and using a range of hardware; to use technology to communicate effectively; and how to ensure that they stay safe when using the internet and social media.
The internet stores an enormous amount of information. Our children are taught how to search for and access this information in a safe and sensible way. Children learn that not all information they find online is necessarily accurate and that multiple sources should be sought to confirm what they discover.
We use a range of technology including PCs, laptops, tablets, cameras and video cameras throughout the curriculum to enhance learning across all subjects.
