Year 4 Remote Learning

As from today,  we have our very new and exciting platform - Class Dojo. Your parent(s) should have received an email with instructions on how to register you on this website. If they haven't yet done this, nag them to do so! Then, you will be able to upload work that you are proud of so we can see it and you can send us messages if you need help with your learning. We have NEVER used it before so please be patient if something isn't working. Just like you, we are learning too!

On the 'Class Story' page on Class Dojo, you will find a link to Zoom. If you click on this link and put in the correct meeting details, you will be able to see a member of Year 4 staff on your screen at 9:15am every day! (Only for about 10 minutes though!). Fingers crossed this will all work in the morning.

Then, in the afternoon,  you will see another member of staff who is going to be reading you a story for about 10 minutes. I will post the time for the afternoon slot on here and on the Dojo page once it has been confirmed.

This week, you may find it easier to print off the Math worksheets.  If anyone is unable to print these off, do not panic as I will leave some outside the Learning Centre door for you to collect.  They should be ready to collect by 10.30am Monday.

English – Non-Chronological report – Identify the key features.

Over the last two weeks you have been learning how to write a non-chronological report about the anglerfish.

This week you will be writing a non chronological report about a made-up creature.

Today, you are going to be re-capping the features of a non-chronological report.

1)    Work through the PowerPoint which identifies the key features of a non chronological report.

PowerPoint

2) Read through the examples given and identify the key features.  You could print the sheet off and use different coloured pencils to identify each of the key features (like we do in class) or you could simply read through and write down some examples of the different key features under appropriate headings.

Appearance:

Draw a picture of your chosen creature and label its key features. Some of these key features will have been mentioned on the video clip, others you can use your imagination and make them up. Be as inventive as you want.

Think about the creatures diet.  Is it a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore? What food does it actually eat? You can use your imagination to make up the names of plants and animals.

Think about the creatures habitat. Where does it live? In the trees, in a cave etc.
