Word Guerrilla
On Friday the 18th March we welcomed a special visitor to school – David the ‘Word Guerrilla’. He performed music and poetry in the form of raps to KS2, they were very funny and we felt amused when he started to perform. His skills were incredible! All the children had smiles on their faces.
After that, he held a workshop for all the classes in the school. In Year 6, he showed us a power point presentation. Then, he showed us a picture on the interactive board of shapes and we had to draw them on our piece of paper and create drawings out of them. Next, he told us to listen to the music and draw scribbles to see where our pen moved on our paper. He also told us to write anything that was in our mind on the paper and to scribble negative things out. Last of all, he gave every one a book and told us to rip a page out and then try and make a poem with words that were on the page. We had to circle words and phrases that we liked to create a poem .
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed his visit and it inspired us to read and write more poems in the future!
