Religious Education
At Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery we believe that children need to learn about the beliefs and practises of religious and non-religious groups.
We follow the Essex exploRE scheme of work.
In order to prepare children for life in a diverse, tolerant society they learn about what followers of the world’s major religions believe in and how this affects their day-to-day life.
Children study the lives of key figures in each religion and about which festivals, and how, they celebrate.
Discussion and role play are a key aspect of RE lessons as they allow children to explore and discuss their feelings and own opinions most effectively.
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from religious assemblies. Any parent wishing to exercise this right must make a written request to the Headteacher.
The agreed Essex Syllabus for RE is changing for September 2023.
